Building an Accountability Culture of Learning and Innovative Thinking

Looking at my business, I used to think, “somebody should fix that problem.” Then I realized I am that somebody and accountability started with me. I overcame my delusion, but I realized that to have accountability from my team, they had to know the end game. This meant total transparency of the company’s vision and long-term goals at every level of the organization. SAP Business One provides the foundation for data transparency to accompany our process and leadership transparency.

In this session, Milena Radakovic, president at Nexus Exhibits, will share how the single most costly business issue today is the inability to effectively execute key strategies. She will describe how, after three years of transformation, Nexus now has a high-performance team culture of accountability and innovation to be proud of. Learn strategies that you can use to build a culture of trust that motivates people to accomplish more.

ISlide’s Use of Innovation with SAP Business One in the Cloud to Reach New Customers

Justin Kittredge, founder of ISlide, knows the meaning of value. During his appearance on Shark Tank, he turned down an investment offer that didn’t match what he knew ISlide was worth, so Justin and his team have since worked tirelessly to continue growing their business. What ISlide really needed in order to grow was the ability to create new sales channels through fast deployments of customized microsites, a new customized customer experience rather than a generic experience, and all of this in a fully integrated system. Justin knew the way to get there was by finding a way to reduce initial capital investment and create more flexibility with the cloud.

Using SAP Business One and especially relying on cloud technology, ISlide has seen an increase of revenue, more customers, higher customer satisfaction, process automation, and more as well as better data analytics. Now that marketing is fully tied into B2B, customers have more options today and their needs are addressed proactively. ERP and cloud innovation help ISlide understand its customers, enabling higher levels of customer satisfaction along with increased revenue.

In this inspiring keynote, you’ll hear from an entrepreneur who knows value when he sees it—or hears it. Join Justin for this fascinating story of a company that lets people stand in what they stand for.

SAP Business One: Delivering on the Intelligent Enterprise

In SAP’s opening keynote, you’ll hear why SAP Business One is the platform that will empower your business and deliver on the promises of an intelligent enterprise. In an ever-changing economy with challenges and opportunities centered around the digital future—whether that be the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud-based operations, mobility, or e-commerce—SAP Business One has the tools you need to build a powerful framework for business growth. Learn what SAP believes are the most important ingredients necessary for you to stay at the forefront of change and equip you to transform your business into a truly intelligent enterprise.

An Extensible Platform for Growth: SAP Propels Your Business Forward

The SAP Business One Digital Core is what enables you as you spearhead disruptive opportunities for doing business. But how can a piece of software that has been around for decades still be part of leading digital change within organizations? By creating an extensible platform that connects to the tools you need and anticipates the features you require, SAP supports your growth with an eye on the future.

In this session, Rainer Zinow will dive into detail about the SAP Business One development process and how the entire SAP team prepares for a digitally enhanced future. Don’t miss this session for an exciting inside look at the direction of SAP Business One.

ISlide’s Comprehensive Approach to B2B Management Drives Customers and Revenue

ISlide found itself in a predicament not unlike many other organizations using SAP Business One: a patchwork assembly of disparate technology that did not allow ISlide to quickly adapt to changing customer needs and emerging business trends. Without an integrated solution, ISlide was unable to create a consistent framework for affiliates or generate useful information out of the vast amounts of customer data. By developing a strong relationship with Focused Impressions, ISlide was able to leverage the FocusPoint e-commerce platform to create a comprehensive and fully integrated B2B management system that provided new customer insight through effective customer analytics.

In addition to creating an innovative and easy B2B experience that addresses customer needs, ISlide increased its revenue and customer base as well as developed new revenue channels that weren’t available previously. ISlide was able to lower its ongoing operating costs as a result of automation and was able to redeploy some staff members to other critical business tasks.

Businesses that don’t innovate or adapt will be at risk of losing customers and revenue. Join Paul and Ed in this session to learn from their insights and see benefits inside your own organization.

The Engagement Trifecta: Beat the Odds and Create a Winning Culture

Each individual influences a culture. It starts with you! This session breaks down your day into three distinctive sections. You will discover how much power and control you have in your life that directly reflects on the atmosphere of where you work and live. Learn how to make deliberate choices that will impact how you live, work, and play.

Because I Said I Would

We live in a society that often does not respect the importance of a promise. It is too easy to say, “I’ll get to it” or “tomorrow.” In many ways we have become numb to disappointment and broken commitments. This expectation starts to fade into our character as individuals. Amanda Messer believes that every individual has the strength to become a person of their word. As the co-founder of an international social movement, Amanda shares her insights and actionable ways to become better at fulfilling commitments. She inspires others to become more accountable to their promises through compelling and real-life examples from the because I said I would movement. Amanda convincingly illustrates how integrity and keeping your promises are forever interwoven. She discusses how holding ourselves and each other accountable truly changes humanity for the better.

From Chaos to Harmony: How Favorite Fishing Managed Explosive Growth Across 3 Brands

Managing three different company brands amid an explosion of growth comes with a host of challenges. Add a disparate technology stack with conflicting systems, and anyone would be at their wit’s end trying to make sense of it all.

Not one prone to panic, Winston Tucker knew that in order to channel the immediate success his companies were experiencing into sustained growth, he needed to put together a long-term plan that would give him a platform that would integrate data from across the various businesses into a single source of truth. He also knew that too many customizations would leave him slowed down by lengthy upgrades when it came time to update his systems. With the help of some smart partnerships, Winston spearheaded a plan that brought harmony to his company out of a cloud of chaos.

Enjoying the Automated Life

Managing technology across multiple business units with different order processes is daunting to say the least. That is until you automate. In this session, Joe Leimer will share how DRI and its affiliated companies used SAP Business One and SPS Commerce (EDI) since 2012 to streamline the needs of four very unique apparel businesses. In record time, the team integrated solutions to better manage tens of thousands of parent purchase orders across more than 20 trading partners, supporting direct-to-consumer shipments, special/custom orders, and anything else customers have asked for. Built-in flexibility allows each business unit to run its operations to match customer expectations while eliminating manual processes and stress for DRI. The retail teams use one screen for visibility to all orders, and the best part is the company can confidently say, “yes” when a retailer asks if EDI trading requirements can be met.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Tips on how to manage diverse business needs

  • How to replace manual processes by integrating systems

  • How to manage complex fulfillment requirements with ease

Oh, the Places You’ll Go with Boyum Usability!

With the implementation of the Boyum Usability and Pack and Print packages at Dynamic Computer Corporation (DCC), the efficiencies and savings have been phenomenal. After implementing SAP Business One, the team at DCC suspected they were not set up to properly utilize dates and lead times. This caused manual processes and workarounds to be utilized by sales, purchasing, and production, and it led to a waste of human capital and introduced risk of not meeting customer deadlines. The advantage of using Boyum was in allowing DCC to trigger the calculation on multiple events and not be limited by the formatted search rules.

Boyum also has a feature that prevents certain changes to sales orders, a task difficult to accomplish without the Usability package.

The enhancement to purchase order status allows DCC to store and update notes to line items even if a purchase order is partially closed, and those notes can be made visible on the sales order. This creates efficiencies for all and allows all quick access to the information needed.

Probably the most helpful feature is that Usability allows DCC to customize screens/modules by moving user-defined fields, creating new tabs, removing unused fields, setting up custom tab defaults, etc.—this has allowed DCC to onboard new employees quickly and more efficiently while reducing the risk of human error.

The process improvements translate into both operational improvement and improve your ability to produce it on time and to get it right the first time, increasing customer satisfaction and cash in the door.

Key Business Benefits:

  1. How to overcome risks and inefficiencies due to the lack of control around dates and lead times

  2. More control over sales orders by understanding what can and cannot be changed

  3. Print and delivery opportunities and efficiencies

In this session, Richard Duffy, an expert on cloud installations and a renowned SAP Business One expert, walks you through how cloud affects a discrete part of your organization and the benefits that can be reaped from a successful cloud migration. Reinventing Your Business with SAP Cloud-Based Solutions

A familiar struggle in business is identifying common problem areas that impact not only the culture of the company but also the efficiency and attitude of the team. Implementing SAP Business One as a cloud-based ERP system has allowed us to ask better questions about our business and see relevant data that was not possible in our previous software.

As a family-owned business for 60 years, we continue to strive for a culture of excellence, and SAP has brought efficiency and a higher standard for manufacturing accuracy, customer communication, and overall revenue. We have seen a dramatic increase in sales revenue since implementation, including reduced overhead and notable increases in the productivity, efficiency, and attitude of our team. Our team spends less time with internal paperwork and more time with customers and vendors, which is an obvious “win” for our organization. Since the implementation, we have asked more hard questions about how we run our business and “why.” This has effectively reinvented our entire core business and allowed us to remain relevant to the marketplace.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Increased sales revenue

  • Improved operating efficiency

  • Reduced overhead/operating costs

How Corporate Culture Can Make or Break Your SAP Innovation Strategy

Are you looking to get more out of SAP Business One by improving processes, integrating with third-party software, moving to HANA, and taking advantage of mobile? Are you working on anything innovative with SAP Business One that’s going to be a game changer and set you apart from the competition?

Without the right corporate culture in place, these plans will likely fail. As Peter Drucker said: "Culture eats Strategy for breakfast".

Tim Guest is managing director of SAP Business One user Zoedale Ltd in the U.K. and has firsthand experience of this. After implementing SAP Business One in 2014, Zoedale Ltd went on a three-year cultural change program, which saw 50% of its existing staff leave or get fired. In 2019 the 15-person team is working to a set of values and principles; the culture really is about challenging the status quo and constantly looking at ways to improve processes.

This session will give attendees a few simple steps to help them define their values and principles and create a culture that not only accepts change but also drives change.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Learn how culture can help achieve your business objectives.

  • Define a set of values and principles aligned with your strategy.

  • Build a culture that drives innovation, change, and improvement.

Advanced SQL Queries: Business Intelligence from Your Intelligence

Learning SQL is an investment in yourself—or your staff—that helps make the most of your current technology investment. SAP HANA and Microsoft SQL are themselves powerful business intelligence tools that can be used to great effect. Come see a tutorial on writing analytical SQL queries using the more advanced features of your system. We start with an unremarkable “select” statement and build on that using joins, groupings, aggregates, and window functions to get informative and actionable intelligence. The content of this session applies equally to Microsoft SQL and SAP HANA.

Key Business Benefits:

  • We make the most of our investment by building our own reports.

  • The body of our SQL knowledge is kept in the database itself, ready for study.

  • Our SQL experience leads to easier integrations of other SQL-based systems.

No More Hand-Keying Orders!

With its four associated companies, Design Resources Inc. (DRI) must take in orders from a huge variety of customers in a wide variety of formats. Processing orders for custom-decorated apparel from college bookstores across the U.S., major sports leagues, a direct-to-customer BigCommerce website, and a sales rep team distributed across the U.S., the IT team at DRI has listened to the business, which says, “We don’t want our team hand-keying orders.”

The IT team has designed systems to take in orders in EASI, SPS Commerce’s RSX, custom XML, PromoStandards, intercompany (within SAP), BigCommerce API, and direct to database. By parsing these formats into our database and then providing standardized views to make the information look the same to our users and to SAP Business One, the business can then either automatically import the orders or allow users to approve orders for import using a web portal.

We will look at how DRI has utilized custom, in-house-developed tools and reseller tools such as Third Wave Systems’ BizWeaver and Orbis Software’s TaskCentre to drive its companies a little bit closer to 0% manual order entry every day.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Eliminate data entry errors.

  • Get orders into the system and to the warehouse for fulfillment fast.

  • Allow our team members to perform more fulfilling work.

Redi Bag Targets Transportation Savings Using SAP Business One UDO Capabilities

Redi Bag USA is a plastic films manufacturer that provides plastic bags, films, and containers for the grocery, industrial, and health care market segments. As Redi Bag USA grew in size, we needed to add additional capability to aggregate shipments into truckloads with stop-offs to ship more freight on fewer trucks.

You will learn how Redi Bag, in just eight weeks, designed, built, and implemented a load-building module that easily allows aggregation of multiple orders delivering into one or many customers on a single truckload. Hear about how Giancarlo, VP of technology at Redi Bag, worked with Daryl, VP of operations, on devising the functional specs and implemented them using SAP Business One.

We will walk you through the journey on how Redi Bag is leveraging this custom load-building module in SAP Business One and how it drives other efficiencies and automation. The automation frees up valuable time from our shipping staff to focus on delivering the shipments on time, without damage, and at the most cost-effective mode of shipment.

After a month using this tool, we realized a reduction in cost of 10–30% for any truckload shipments with multiple destinations.

Small Firm That Packs a Punch: Budgeting, Forecasting, and Modeling with BI360

Gabrielle Gutierrez, the SVP at First Eagle Investment Management (FEIM), came from a large firm that had the resources to devote people and money to creating and using a complex budgeting solution. She is impressed that at a small firm like FEIM can have an accessible, user-friendly solution that lets nonfinance people be part of the budgeting process and therefore have a greater impact in the performance of the company. Users simply log in to a web portal and enter their budgets. They don’t even need to use Excel. (Excel is only used by the designers of the system.)

Forecasting/modeling was a very manual process for the FEIM accounting team, with most of the effort being spent on extracting data from various systems. The team purchased BI360 to optimize their current SAP Business One investment and be able to automate the data extraction and use it for designing models with Excel. With BI360 and SAP Business One, models get created via a web browser, and they can change drivers and assumptions and create, save, and compare countless scenarios to facilitate informed analysis and decision-making. Through the year, forecasts can be updated continuously with updated actual results and according to changing conditions.

BI360 helped FEIM create easy-to-use and robust budget templates to enter information and then use it in SAP Business One. BI360 fully integrates with SAP Business One and acts as an extension of each system.

FEIM realizes that there is much more to what BI360 can do for them and is planning on rolling out financial reports once the SAP upgrade is complete. Gabrielle used to have a bottom-up approach and now has a top-down approach, which the team prefers and now utilizes with BI360. BI360 is helping a “very small firm” like FEIM do world-class analysis and decision-making. Further, the organization is adding more users on a regular basis.

E-Commerce Helped This Distributor Drive More Business – But Where Are They Now?

Hummert International, an 80-year-old family-owned horticulture equipment distribution company, sought to optimize its online sales in 2018 after decades of success with traditional channels. At the time, its existing web store offered minimal flexibility, a weak customer experience, and little back-office integration.

Choosing Sana Commerce, an e-commerce platform that directly integrated with Hummert’s SAP Business One ERP, helped Hummert double its online conversion rate and drive 25% more new business in the first year after its new-and-improved web store launch. The organization did so by optimizing its customer experience with advanced segmentation, an enhanced product catalog, and a more streamlined purchase journey.

But where is the organization now? Have its wins continued in year two?

  • How to overcome common e-commerce challenges.

  • Learn how integrated e-commerce can help drive more business.

The Power of Automated Business Process

Nowadays, e-commerce has become a basic tool that helps business grow. It is not just about having the tool itself, but the challenge lies in how to maintain the combination of desired business process, customer satisfaction, and the right technology running behind it.

Bailey’s runs SAP Business One and multiple e-commerce platforms. As the business continues growing, we have hundreds of thousands of customers and products with thousands of attributes and product options. It was a big challenge to maintain the huge volume of daily B2B and B2C transactions and the wide variety of attributes on products level and on the business partner level while abiding by our firm standards and data security policy.

To aid with that, ITM Development provided fully integrated SAP Business One solutions and customized e-commerce development, including full synchronization between SAP Business One and all e-commerce platforms and marketplaces, fraud detection system, return merchandise authorization (RMA), and Authoriz.net, all within one single version of SAP Business One, which can also monitor correct data flow and accuracy of data integrity. A customized development of Magento was also needed, such as a complex product page with information coming from multiple resources (attributes, files, UDT), and a complex filtration mode and custom shipping method required unique capabilities.

Now we are proud to have fully automated business processes, and as result, we could be able to reduce the operational costs and avoid human mistakes to increase the productivity and the revenue accordingly.

Using Inbuilt Control Structures to Drive Best Practices and Process Flows

Do you have required data? Process flows that must be adhered to? Users who struggle to understand changes?

In this session we will review innovative and useful ways to utilize the inbuilt SAP control structures to drive business logic and enforce user input behaviors. Utilizing the core SAP tools, we can drive notification to key users of specific events, enforce approval procedures to ensure process review and sign-off, and fully stop transactions that do not meet the business requirements. Additionally, with some creative use of user-controlled tables, we can expand our logging and control capabilities with multi-layered logical flows.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Control user access and actions.

  • Streamline business process and reduce training with cleaner error messages.

  • Keep your eyes on the key metrics and processes that are really making you money.

How a Wholesale Distributor Doubled Its Efficiency with WiSys

Ram Products is a wholesale distributor of repair and maintenance products, offering the immediate delivery of managed product from mobile warehouses. Ram products had several operational challenges related to speed and accuracy in the operations of purchase order receiving, production, in-transit transfers, picking, and cycle counting. These processes were either slow, prone to errors, or required more than one person to complete these tasks.

To resolve these challenges, James Shotts, director of operations for Ram Products, chose to implement a warehouse management system (WMS) solution in the warehouse. Ram Products spent considerable time evaluating WMS solutions before selecting WiSys. The organization’s evaluation was based on how focused the WMS company was on SAP Business One, experience with HANA, ability to demonstrate the product, and cost.

This session will be a deep dive into RAM Products’ WMS transformation as James shares its journey that doubled efficiency, automated workflows, and decreased the number of times that product needed to be touched and validated by people in the warehouse.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Doubled efficiency in the purchase-order receiving process

  • 30% increase in shipping capacity

  • Decreased number of required people by 50% in the in-transit transfer process

Maximize Your SAP Business One Investment with Integrated E-Commerce

Organizations want to focus their attention on business expansion, but many are bogged down by the hassle of having to integrate the software and connectors that make up their complex e-commerce ecosystems. Especially when handling large-scale accounts, businesses want to minimize manual workloads and maximize automation. This is integrated e-commerce’s sweet spot.

Still, many organizations are turning to shopping cart software or interfacing solutions: approaches that create more siloes, are traditionally kept separate from the ERP, and require data synchronization and replication. That doesn’t have to be the case.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Discover the benefits of integrated e-commerce.

  • Learn how to maximize existing technology investments.

  • Reduce time and resources for e-commerce projects.

International SAP Business One Intercompany Integration Challenges

At MES, we have implemented SAP in Hong Kong, U.S., Mexico, India, China, and now Poland. Most SAP Business One implementation partners have limited experience in implementations in multiple countries. As we implement across different countries, we have had to do:

  1. Customizations required for specific countries

  2. Examinations of intercompany settings, which if not done correctly can wreak havoc on supply chains, operations, and financial statements. This has limited user history with implementations in multiple countries.

SAP Business One is the system we use to track critical metrics of on-time delivery, supplier performance, financial statements, and quality data. Global IT Manager Chhaya Gala will present and discuss the pitfalls and challenges we experienced while implementing SAP Business One globally and what we learned from them. We will also present some of the countermeasures we put in place and customizations we did to make the implementation an ongoing success.

Delivering on the Promise of Reliable, Self-Service Business Intelligence

Dennis, VP of operations and supply chain at Arani, recognized the need for improved operational efficiency that the company could manage in-house. The organization needed a more reliable and scalable analytics solution.

Arani’s existing SAP Business One framework was unable to provide the types of reports needed. As a result, Dennis spent a significant amount of time manipulating SAP Business One data to then start creating a lot of reports in Microsoft Access and Excel. As the business continued to grow at a rapid pace, the management team was unable to make proactive decisions due to its limited insight into crucial information and its reactionary approach to reporting.

With help from NewIntelligence, Arani implemented a suite of analytics software that not only met Arani’s current needs but also allowed for the company’s continued growth. Knowing Arani’s team was not fully armed with an IT department, NewIntelligence identified the following top priorities: data integrity, reporting efficiency, and self-service.

Building the Arani solution took just 68 days from kickoff to rollout. The new solution was adopted quickly companywide. Arani operations, executives, sales, and marketing teams now rely on the ability to create, schedule, and distribute custom reports daily.

Through the Arani experience, NewIntelligence developed the SAP B1 QuickStart analytics solution. Now, SAP Business One users facing similar reporting and analytics demands can take advantage of NewIntelligence’s SAP B1 QuickStart solution. Business professionals are equipped to create and analyze their own sophisticated SAP Business One reports and dashboards with little training and no help from IT.

Affordable Self-Service Business Intelligence for SAP Business One

Are you running SAP Business One SQL Server with limited reporting capabilities? Are you looking for improved operational efficiency that you can manage in-house with respect to a reliable and scalable analytics solution?

We will demonstrate how you can save a significant amount of time manipulating SAP Business One data and be able to create reports on your own. As a result, management can make proactive decisions based on critical company data and avoid reactionary reporting.

We will show how NewIntelligence’s SAP Business One Quick Start analytics solution utilizes a suite of IBM Analytics software that provides operations, executives, sales, and marketing teams the ability to create, schedule, and distribute custom reports daily. It allows business professionals to create and analyze their own sophisticated SAP Business One reports and dashboards with little training and no help from IT.

But here's the good news: SAP Business One version 9.3 contains new RMA functionality that streamlines the entire RMA process. CRM for More Than Just Your Sales Team: Managing Customers Inside and Out

Many organizations use CRM software to enable sales teams to track customer information and manage active deals. But customer relationships start long before the sales cycle begins, and they continue long after it ends. There are other relationships to manage in the business, too. What about key suppliers and ongoing activities with them? The accessibility of customer information among internal teams, including interactions and status, shouldn’t be ignored either.

When businesses ask about CRM, they often focus on sales and tracking active deals. But where do the deals come from? Increasingly, businesses are employing digital marketing to “fill the funnel” and are becoming more focused on tracking social media and website visitor behavior. Consider the possibilities if this information were directly accessible to the entire organization in your CRM system. This is possible today.

Connecting People and Process to SAP Business One

While small and midsize enterprises’ (SMEs) awareness of potentially transformative technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and image recognition is increasing, one thing remains true: In many ways, most SMEs have still not fully leveraged the more fundamental power of connectivity, mobility, integration, and process automation within their organizations and ecosystems. As such, the businesses are also not fully leveraging the power of the source of truth they've invested so much in, the ERP (SAP Business One).

In this session we'll cover the general people, processes, SAP connection problems, and other constraints still lurking in businesses of all types and the type of solution those problems lend themselves to. We'll talk about how Universal Display Corporation, Zeus Scientific, Innovative Communication Systems, OG Eyewear, Michael Aram, to name a few, leveraged the Versago/Bizweaver web/mobile platform to connect, simplify, and automate a wide variety of operational scenarios and the ROI the businesses experienced.

We'll conclude with tips for targeting areas to “get connected” and return hours to staff and management for higher-value activity.

Key Business Benefits:

  • Streamline and modernize supplier and customer interactions.

  • Replace old process and interactions with preferred digital solutions.

  • Reduce costly errors, returning time to staff and management.

The organization’s evaluation was based on how focused the WMS company was on SAP Business One, experience with HANA, ability to demonstrate the product, and cost.
